I can’t believe that it has
been 365 days, 12 months, 8,760 hours, and 525,600 seconds since I last
celebrated my birthday. How time flies!
And between the interval of 25 and 26, countless events, experiences,
and lessons (some were remarkable while others less remarkable) have appeared
on the path. It is always a delight to stand, again, at the threshold of a new
phase of ascendancy.
So this is a treat to my
irreplaceable friends.
I
still am in love with books…
Ravi Zacharias, author and
apologist, said, “I pray that books never go out of fashion”. I agree with him,
and I add, without books, life will be bland and witless and colourless. We prefer
the movie version. I realise that my mind is important to God. Books are strewn
about in my room; books that I have read, books that I intend to read, and
those that I might never read—I just love to have them around.
Intelligent
Design—Book of the Year
Williams Dembski did an
excellent work in this piece. When 2017 emerged from its shadows, I was
glossing over the beauty, precision, and candour of Williams about why the
intelligent design theory is really the most plausible. Guys you need to sell
all (not all really) you have to get it. So it conveniently sits at the top of
the list as the book of the year.
Dare
to do
I am a chronic worrier (I worry
about being worried). I’m usually caught in the internal rumblings of defeat,
fear, and unbelief. I am afraid to do what I know I should do. Friends, nothing
can be achieved this way. Recklessness sometimes is not only appropriate, but
required. I look back at a course of action I executed early this month and I
feel bliss. If I had slept over it, it would never have happened. So friends,
cut the leash!
I
love philosophy!
Don’t get me wrong, I do not
have any sort of formal training in this discipline (I wish I did). But between
November 2016 and February 2017, I have thirstily guzzled several materials on
this subject. I guess I’m in love with hard sayings and difficult questions of
humanity, society, religion, and faith.
Artiste
of the Year
I have been a loyal fan of
Hillsongs for the past six years, but this year my artiste/band of the year is
Anthem Lights.
Birthday
wishes
I wish I’ll write a best-seller;
I wish I’ll run into some very good books; I wish I’ll listen to Anthem Lights
live and get a signed copy of their album; I wish I’ll see Pirates of the
Caribbean—Dead men Tell No Tales; I wish I’ll get a Samsung Tablet.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
